Product Quality Engineer

Based in Redditch, Worcestershire

This role of Quality Engineer is an ideal opportunity for a highly credible person looking to make a difference and an immediate impact, in an exciting and challenging environment. Perfect for an individual who is technically astute who enjoys leading and contributing with new product introduction and issue resolution.

Main duties:

  • Lead and contribute to NPI, PPAP & APQP.
  • Lead and contribute to the technical side of issue resolution.
  • Ability to review, design outputs and manufacture work instructions.
  • Communicating with customers and assisting with supplier audits.
  • Contribution to the creation and implementation of lean Product Development Processes (PDP).
  • Lead multi-departmental design and process FMEA sessions.
  • Create, own and lead the APQP progress.
  • Review effectiveness of product verification and validation activities.
  • Lead product development project lessons learnt sessions.
  • Lead and implement VAVE initiatives.
  • Ensure product based Customer Specific Requirements (CSR's) are communicated and understood.
  • Lead 8D investigations.
  • Conduct internal audits.

The Person:

The Quality Engineer role requires an outstanding and highly motivated individual with the ability to balance competing objectives. A degree in electronics is required as this role will be contributing to the review of designs as part of a multi discipline team. Many of the quality tools intended to be used are from the automotive environment. As such, automotive experience is preferred. However, this also represents an opportunity for a motivated and fast learning Quality Engineer to develop their quantitive and analytical skills within what will become a pseudo-TS 16949 environment.

Excellent communication is required, as a breath of experience in design, test and manufacturing. You will be highly motivated, passionate with a can do attitude and prove you can add value as well as demonstrating the desire to take on additional responsibility in due course.

This is a new role created to support the company’s drive towards Operational excellence. The ability for products to exceed customer's reliability and functional compliance requirements starts with how it is specified, then how it is designed and finally how it is manufactured. Facilitating the definition and improvement of these processes and ultimately contributing to their day to day application within this value chain are the principle responsibilities of this role.

Essential Experience:

  • Must be highly technical.
  • Must have a degree in Electronics Engineering.
  • Highly resilient hands on practical person.
  • Experienced in leading and contributing in automotive styles (e.g. 8D, Gauge R&R, Fishbone, PPAP etc).
  • Experienced in electronics design and manufacturing OEN environment (electronics/ firmware/ software).
