Arrowvale Electronics is the leading supplier of data recorders and instrumentation within the UK. Based in Redditch Worcestershire the company has ambitious plans to grow the business through engineering development over the next several years. This involves growing the development team in order to design and develop a new range of instrumentation products for the rail market.

Job Overview

The role would suit someone with experience in hardware design engineering who is looking to advance their career within a dynamic environment where they could contribute directly to future rail products.

Job Role

  • Hardware requirements capture from functional specification
  • Circuit design ( analogue and digital ) considering cost and quality
  • Generation of Bill of Materials selecting appropriate components
  • Production and test of prototype PCB
  • Generation of test specifications and test reports
  • Production of Type Test specifications and reports
  • Resolution of any technical issues arising from Type Test
  • Necessary support for hardware quality issues for products in the field
  • Production of necessary design rigs
  • Release of product into production

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design ( 5 years+)
  • Well proven experience designing for Test and Manufacture
  • Familiarity with industry standard Schematic capture and PCB layout software
  • A thorough understanding of microprocessor hardware and related systems
  • An appreciation of role embedded software within overall hardware design
  • Well-developed capability to design for EMC and LVD.
  • Familiar with range of EMC issues revealed during test and their correction
  • An understanding of the requirements for design to IPC standards
  • Able to plan work and complete activities within agreed timescales.
  • Ability to proactively resolve problems
  • Strong documentation and writing skills
  • BSC degree Electronic Engineering or related subject

Some skills that would be considered an asset:

  • Experience with the working practices required for products used in the rail industry
  • Understanding and experience with FMEA process.
  • Familiarity with Altium Designer tool
  • Familiarity with thermal management
